Personal data submitted on this website will be used for the purposes specified in this privacy policy or in relevant parts of the website. We may use your personal information to: (a) enable your use of the services available on the website; (b) administer the website, e.g. to send you password reminders; (c) contact you to inform you of competitions on our website and about any such competitions you have entered; (d) send to you goods purchased via the website and supply to you services purchased via the website; (e) send statements and invoices to you, and collect payments from you; (f) send you general (non-marketing) commercial communications; (g) send you email notifications which you have specifically requested; (h) send to you a newsletter and other marketing communications relating to our website, where you have specifically agreed to this, by post, email or similar technology (you can inform us at any time if you no longer require marketing communications); (i) deal with enquiries and complaints made by or about you relating to the website. Most commonly, this includes our staff, our IT service providers, those who manage our data, our advisers and marketing partners, and third parties who help with the administration of competitions and the fulfilment of their prizes. As your personal data will be stored on our IT infrastructure it will also be shared with our data processors Microsoft and Amazon Web Services which may be located outside the UK – please see the International Transfers section below for more details.

Competition finalists’ full names may be published online and shared with the media as part of the competition publicity, subject to the terms and conditions for such competition. We may also share your data with Arts Thread for the purpose of providing a creative profile on the Arts Thread website. We will only share your data with Arts Thread with your consent and you can view their privacy policy here.

Except as provided in this privacy policy, we will not provide your information to third parties.

INTERNATIONAL DATA TRANSFERS

Information that we collect may be stored and processed in and transferred between any of the countries in which we operate in order to enable us to use the information in accordance with this privacy policy. Information which you provide may be transferred to countries (including the United States, Japan and others) which do not have data protection laws equivalent to those in force in the UK. Where we work with certain service providers/partners, such as the Leather & Hide Council of America for the purpose of reviewing website profiles and as part of the judging process for competitions, we may use specific contracts approved by the Information Commissioner’s Office with the service provider/partner which gives the information the same protection it has in the UK. In addition, personal information that you submit for publication on the website, such as your name and email address, will be published on the Internet and may be available, via the Internet, around the world. You expressly agree to such transfers of personal information.

HOW WE PROTECT YOUR INFORMATION

We will take reasonable technical and organisational precautions to prevent the loss, misuse or alteration of your personal information. We will store all the personal information you provide on our secure (password- and firewall- protected) servers. All electronic transactions you make to or receive from us will be encrypted using SSL technology. Of course, data transmission over the Internet is inherently insecure, and we cannot guarantee the security of data sent over the Internet. You are responsible for keeping your password and user details confidential. We will not ask you for your password.

YOUR RIGHTS

a) Right of access

This means you can ask us to give you a copy of the information we hold about you.

b) Right to rectification

This means if we have incomplete or inaccurate information, you can ask us to correct it. It is important that the information we hold about you is accurate and current. Please keep us informed if the information you provide us changes as our relationship evolves. Note, we may need to verify the accuracy of the new data you provide to us.

c) Right to erasure (Right to be forgotten)

This means you can ask us to delete or remove any information we have if there is no good reason for us continuing to have it. You also have the right to ask us to delete or remove information where you have successfully exercised your right to object to processing (see below), where we may have processed your information unlawfully or where we are required to erase your information to comply with local law. Note, however, that we may not always be able to comply with your request of erasure for specific legal reasons which will be notified to you, if applicable, at the time of your request.

d) Right of restriction of processing

This means you can ask us to suspend using your information in the following scenarios: (a) if you want us to establish the data’s accuracy; (b) where our use of the information is unlawful but you do not want us to erase it; (c) where you need us to hold the information even if we no longer require it as you need it to establish, exercise or defend legal claims; or (d) you have objected to our use of your information but we need to verify whether we have overriding legitimate grounds to use it.
